Gordon Craig Theatre
Opened in 1975, the Gordon Craig theatre is the cultural hub of Stevenage. Having hosted acts such as Dionne Warwick, Lesley Garrett and Jim Davidson it is a popular act with entertainers and theatre goers alike. The summer season plays host to epic shows such as Titanic, Annie and West Side Story. The undoubted highlight of the year though is the pantomime season which is the busiest season for the Gordon Craig theatre.

Old Stevenage
Stevenage only began expansion after it was declared the first new town to be built in 1946, following the Second World War. Prior to this, Stevenage was a very small town, before becoming a new town the population is estimated to have been less than 5,000. When you compare this to the current figure of around 80,000 it is easy to see the scale of the transformation.
The old town centre remains largely unchanged following the development of New Stevenage, and it is this area which has allowed Stevenage to retain its charm.
Stevenage old town is located just a short walk from the Holiday Inn Stevenage hotel.
Hatfield House
Now the home of the 7th Marquess of Salisbury, it was originally built in 1611 by Robert Cecil who was, at that time, King James the 1st’s Chief Minister. The house hosts a variety of events throughout the year, from music recitals to garden shows.
